Cosmetic dentistry is a term generally used to refer to any dental work that improves the appearance of your mouth. It primarily focuses on improving dental aesthetics and various treatments can be used to straighten, lighten, reshape and repair the teeth.

Your smile is one of the first things people tend to notice about you. An attractive, sparkling white smile enhances your appearance, creates a lasting impression and can improve your confidence.

Professional Teeth Whitening

Professional teeth whitening is the most commonly prescribed cosmetic dental procedure in the Practice. Home teeth whitening is the process of brightening stained, discoloured, or dull teeth and the results can be up to 16 shades brighter and may last for many years.

Your dentist will create trays moulded personally to the shape of your teeth to ensure the best possible result, you then apply the whitening gel at home over the course of two weeks depending on the shade of whiteness desired. The flexibility of wearing the trays during the day or overnight, as well as being able to select how long you wish to whiten your teeth for, makes home whitening an increasingly popular option.

White fillings

White filings can dramatically change the appearance of stained, darkened and worn old silver fillings. You may be unhappy with your smile due to many reasons….broken, chipped or uneven teeth and this may be used to correct a small chip, change the shape or position of teeth, as well as improve the appearance of the tooth. White fillings can significantly strengthen a tooth as the white filling material is ‘bonded’ directly to the natural tooth surface.

Veneers

Veneers are ultra-thin, custom-made porcelain covering that is bonded directly to the teeth. They are an option for closing gaps, enhance the shape, or change the colour of teeth that do not respond well to whitening procedures. In the majority of the cases, some level of tooth reduction is necessary for optimal results.

Crowns

Dental crowns are constructed to mimic the colour of your natural teeth and can be used to restore the shape, colour and function of broken or heavily restored fillings. Crowns are also used as a  final restoration alongside dental implants and can act as a ‘cap’ to hold a heavily restored tooth together after complex root canal treatment.
