Dental Prevention - Hygiene & Therapy

We aim to provide you with the treatment and advice needed to protect one of your greatest assets – your smile! The small investment you make in our hygiene and therapy facility is a crucial part to your ongoing dental health.

At your initial and subsequent dental checks your dentist will carry out a full gum screening and devise a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs, determined by your gum health and how well you are looking after your mouth. This may involve a referral to one of our Hygienists.

The benefits of our approach include:

  • Optimal dental health
  • Pain free teeth and gums
  • An attractive smile
  • Fresh breath
  • Reduced dental costs
  • Easy home maintenance

Here at Spedding Dental Clinic our dedicated hygiene and therapy team Jackie, Kim and Sarah-Jane take a dual approach to helping you achieve and maintain great dental health:

1. Oral Hygiene Instruction

Good oral hygiene techniques are the basis of a lifetime of optimal oral health, without them the best cosmetic and implant dentistry can fail. They can also help you to avoid the embarrassment of bad breath, missing or unsightly teeth and prolong the life of your teeth.

We will show you how to keep your mouth clean and healthy by using an appropriate combination of:

  • Optimal brushing and interdental cleaning techniques
  • Dietary advice
  • Recommend hygiene products to suit your individual needs
  • Smoking cessation advice
  • Antiseptic and fluoride mouthwashes

2. Professional cleaning

Over time hard deposits (tartar), soft deposits (plaque) and staining can build up on your teeth. Not only does this look unsightly but if left can lead to gum disease, tooth decay and potentially tooth loss. The hard build-up on your teeth cannot be removed by brushing alone. Our aim is to remove these deposits thoroughly and painlessly then polish your teeth to leave you with a clean, fresh, healthier mouth. The presence of gum disease, how much build up you have on your teeth and how well you look after your mouth at home will determine the number and frequency of visits you require.
